As usual, Chinese manhwas go the fucking EXTRA drama route (and with all due respect, dont flesh out their stories properly). After chapter 37, the bottom is prepared to leave entirely. He realizes that Zhenbei Wang never loved him and since the affection isn't mutual, there is no point to staying. The bottom leaves, hoping to reunite with his mother only to realize that his mother was taken away. In his mind, the only person with a reason to do so would be Zhenbei Wang so he goes back hoping to get an explanation. He sits in the rain, hoping for an audience but Zhenbei Wang is like whatever. Some rando pops up acting all sus (and hiding around a corner for God's sake) saying, i know where your mom is. Bottom approaches, gets karate chopped into unconsciousness. Turns out Dai Rou still hasn't died and wanted to do some shit. Purple hair (the one who gave the bottom medicine) shows up and is like, bitch you in my territory. Gets people to escort Dai Rou away while purple hair tends to bottom. Immediate chapter after, people in black uniforms show up, killing people left and right. Bottom gets injured saving purple hair, wakes up to (you guessed it) the emperor. Turns out, the emperor went through all this subterfuge cuz he wants bottom. As a matter of fact, he got people to kill his own FUCKING SISTER (Dai Rou) so he would have an excuse to take away Zhenbei Wangs military seal which gives zhenbei the right to control the army. Zhenbei is like you really think I'm just gonna hand over my shit, kills the messenger that the emperor sent. Chapter 40 ends all dramatic with a pic of the three and zhenbei wang saying time to reclaim what's mine and i just gave up after that.

Yu'er is going to leave and go back to the prefect's house to buy his mothers freedom he was waiting outside when the ugly dude called him and kidnap him of course mastermind for the kidnapping was the legal wife of Jun Xuanxiao (our asshole ML) got rescued bu Honglian and he ended up at the side of the emperor.
It wasnt included in this manhwa that Yu'er left hand or wrist was deformed because of the asshole Jun Xuanxiao he actually broke his wrist (anyone who read the novel correct me if im wrong)
Edit: I'll be honest, I wasn't reading carefully the first time so after revisiting it with a little more attention, I want to offer some insights. So the emperor did hire the black uniforms to steal Yu Er from Honglian. But, dai rou may not have been killed by the emperor. The men she hired to capture Yu Er actually work for Honglian who is the boss of the red light sector. So when honglian was like, kick the bitch out, the men had to obey. While escorting her out, because Dai Rou basically told the men to rape Yu Er and they didn't get to do it in the end, they attack Dai rou and may have killed her. I only assume the emperor did it because there would be no other possible reason for the emperor to have an excuse to take away Zhenbei's military seal.
