It’s actually 16-18 depending on the region. But you’re right, by all tense and purposes she is of consenting age in Japan. Though technically she needs her parents permission to actually get married (not likely to happen, but still).

Agreed. Also the concept of the 60 year old man being attracted to this 16 year old girl because she "cute and small and delicate" is...weird. I feel like I'd be side eyeing it less if he fell for her because of more complex aspects of her personality and not because she was sweet and needs protection which is how it comes off based on the internal musings of his we've seen.
