i get what you are saying an emotionally manipulative parent or guardian, in this case its the mother, its hard to recover from and the trauma never leaves you but there eventually is a point where you can't take it anymore and are the only one who can put a stop to it for yourself because you can't ever change them. he can break free, he is a grown independent adult who can support himself he doesn't need her to survive anymore of course there is guilt in the sense of being her son and repaying her back but what she does to him is not healthy and he has realized that so he needs to do it already because now he is just a person with low self esteem and no self value
People who are telling to live his life and ignore his mother. It is very hard to do it. He is trapped of guilt . He can't say anything as she raised him even if throwing him into trauma in the past. He is locked in a cage with a key but can't break free
