Without going into full details, loulan will sacrifice herself and she will run away/pretend to die. This will break maomao since she's her closest friend. They can never meet again :(
I have a feeling there might be a trip to the west in the future - they talk about it so much that I feel it might happen. And I think that’s where Loulan goes off to to start afresh, so I’m hoping they meet again. Cause so many characters are not there anymore - Xiaolan (the maid friend), Lihua (she’s still there but after a small appearance in LN 7 she doesn’t have any presence), meimei (she just got bought out recently) and we hear of Empress Gyoukouyou but she hasn’t made any appearance in a while in the LN). I hope Xiaolan also makes an appearance- I want to know how she’s doing.
