he's not angry, he's scared. he had to kill his family who betrayed him in the past, and then he had to do the same with edgar who he felt he raised with love but still got "betrayed". that's why he distanced himself, he said he cant go through that a second time

he's not even angry at edgar but rather he's afraid and hesitant to become close to him again especially if we're taking a look at what happened in their past lives
mind you, he had raised edgar with love back in the past (enough to feel like a father to edgar) to only raise his OWN sword against the one person that he truly loved, he doesn't want to feel "betrayed" once again which explains a lot of his actions
even in the current lifetime, he doesn't necessarily hate edgar but he chooses to distance himself from him
seems like a bit of a reach for me. I mean they haven't shown in the manga what the true tea is about the original female mc and what was even going on there. But idk he remembers it all, its like leo k*lled himself when he realized what he had done. INstead of repenting or expalining to his brother he imprisons him and in the next life acts an ass and distances himself? Idk the writing seemed really good to me up to here.

My perspective of chapter 40. (Spoiler below, read cautiously)
I understood that Edgar tried to save our little pumpkin, but Marius intervened because the psycho mage (that I forgot his name) was obsessed with her and he probably would go after Edgar and her (and Marius didnāt care for our pumpkin cause he didnāt know her sufficiently) but he cared for Edgar, Edgar didnāt agree with him, and tried to attack Marius because Marius was trying to stop him of rescuing an innocent person, but he thought that Marius was going to dodge, he was stunned āwhy didnāt you dodge?ā And then the trauma of Marius being betrayed and having to kill his sibling over lapsed and he imprisoned Edgar because he couldnāt kill the child he raised ālike a fatherā AAAAAAND he says aaaaall of that is a NEW TRAUMA that happened less then 6 months ago, meaningā¦ Marius turned back recentlyā¦ a person isnāt capable of letting go of a trauma in less then 6 monthsā¦
So, yes, Marius is a little bitch right now, for treating a kid that doesnāt remember anything like that, but I hope he overcome his trauma soon enough, and give Edgar all the love he deserves.
