I am sure we all want trans representation, and that would be a good book as well. But i dont think you're understanding the point of this manga at all. A lot of people are not against an MC being trans, that's a weird way to look at someone's opinion that is the opposite on yours. It's not black and white, it's already 2025, they didn't said that the MC isn't trans because they want "2 gay dudes getting it on".
It's because the story is about a gay person who likes feminine things. I think you guys are the one not seeing the bigger picture. Trans lives matter, obviously. But this is a different manga. Not all people who likes girly things wants to be a girl, the same way that not all people who like manly things to be a guy. I am a woman and i like manly things, and i dont like girly things, does that make me want to be a guy? No, it's just preference. And that is what this is about. I could go on, but i think you guys wont read it anymore HAHAHA
i’m not saying the mc IS trans, obviously he’s not because it’s a bl. i was just saying it was disheartening to see people being so transphobic in the comments. i’m trans myself and it’s sad whenever i see people being so against the idea of a trans headcanon just because it’s trans, which i literally see all the time online. it’s called a headcanon for a reason, because it’s personal preference and it’s not actually canon. i get what you’re saying 100% but it is transphobic to say that trans people are the problem in wanting representation and headcanoning characters as trans. i’m not hurting anyone by doing that.
the mc literally said something about how ever since he was young he wanted to be a princess (i haven’t read this in forever but..). to me that sounds like he could be trans and i think it’s fine to think he is or think he’s not but what’s not fine is trying to police that. like god forbid i headcanon a male character as a woman…
Replying to the last part of your comment, we get what you're trying to say
in Japan's strict beliefs and overall stereotype of " overly feminine man = trans", instead of representation, it blurs the line between an actual guy who just prefers feminine things and actual transwoman. People are against it because it's missing the point of the entire story of a cis gay man and his struggles of accepting himself for liking feminine traits, this is representation for these specific people too.
It just contradicts the story's main purpose, which is why people aren't really on board imo. I am also trans (apagender to be precise), but sometimes it's best to let other members of our community have their own moment too because it's often blurred with our representation.
i mean yes but it’s really hard to come by the only trans rep i’ve personally seen is fujimoto’s stuff and boys run the riot (for manga) but even still there are people who deny characters are trans and misgender them or call trans women “femboys.” it’s just disheartening to see and even when people headcanon characters as trans, i still see so many people getting mad about it even though everyone knows that it’s JUST a headcanon. like there really isn’t trans rep unless you’re really looking and ive ESPECIALLY seen absolutely no trans romance like ever. it just makes me sad like god forbid i want to think a character is trans without getting shit on
Please go check out Shimanami Tasogare! (Also known as "Our dreams at dusk" because it handles about multiple queer representation from trans, questioning, queer youth, etc.) it's one of my favorite queer manga that does a good job of representing the struggles of lgbtqia+! I found this out around 2022-2023, I hope you'll resonate with it since it's quite heavy imo. (A little TMI from me, this manga quite literally was my realization that i was aroace apagender HELP)

i didn’t expect to open the comments and see people being so against the idea of the uke being trans. obviously it’s not JUST because he likes cute things that someone would interpret that he might be a woman but because he literally said that ever since we was a kid he wanted to be a princess. it honestly is sad how many people are against the idea of a trans mc :/
