Getting off on stomping on her foot… what an odd interpretation of that situation. Did I forget and was somehow grinning with joy when she was hurt? The fact is that What Adele and Cesar are doing (making her a fake noble) is illegal. It could get him stripped of his title and jailed and it could get her executed. While her instructor was bullying her and making a mess of her feet by giving her shoes that were too small for her and forcing her to walk and dance in them, she didn’t say a word of it to Cesar despite their freedom being at stake. Meanwhile, that also gave them a major setback that threatened to expose them, especially after her injured feet were exposed to noble men. So Cesar lashed out by stepping on her already injured feet. Was that wrong? Yes. Was he wrong to be angry? No.
And Adelaide isn’t judging Cesar through modern day lenses. She’s judging him based exactly on who he’s meant to be: a high society noble. For her, they were all the same, yet Cesar who first appeared to be nothing but arrogant, light hearted and rudely direct, showed different facets of himself which she didn’t associate with regular nobles before. His viewpoint on commoners alone was different. So it’s not about whether or not she hasn’t experienced anything healthy. It’s that shes seen the worst of mankind from being in the streets to being with nobles, looked at Cesar and found herself with feelings for him. She’s not some naive child who doesn’t know what someone who appears to be good is. Esdra looks good enough but she’s not falling for him. Same for the knight. They’re just not for her.
You just said a bunch of nothing lmao. Nobody said anyone’s for her lmao, in fact NONE of these guys are for her. Esdra wasn’t even a good option anyway either so that’s why she didn’t get with him, he basically dipped on her. The whole point of my comment though was that Cesar doesn’t deserve to be the male lead after everything’s he’s done so next lol
Loving a character doesn’t stop me from being able to use critical thinking and have a conversation meant to broaden my own understanding of the story and its characters. Whats the point of looking at a story in this setting with modern day lenses? How would I be able to appreciate it while relying on today’s sense of values and morality, without taking into account where these characters come from and what could possibly lead them to fall for each other?. If your stance is that Cesar is a vile human, I’m opened to hear what makes him a vile human. I just spoke on what was the driving factor for him doing something messed up like stomping on Adelaide’s injured foot. So you either have a rebuttals about that or you don’t. Either way, I don’t start a conversation wanting to dismiss the person in replying to. So I’ve got No idea why you would just assume I’m not opened for discussion.
He even arranged the adelaide to get sexually assaulted then proceeded to blame her. How is that NOT vile. You have no standards it’s genuinely sad actually but like I said I shouldn’t be spoonfeeding you this info if you already read the story. The first 10 chapters should explain why I think he’s Vile. He barely even treated her like a person with feelings until after he came to terms with the fact that he’s sexually attracted to her then gained feelings. It just gets to a point
Are you talking about the chapters where she goes to the masquerade underground bal where noble girls go as a rite of passage? It’s a fk’d up custom, but it’s theirs anyway. The only thing is those noble girls are usually prepared for how terrifying it can be by their mothers. Cesar should’ve had someone prep Adelaide for it, and part of the reason why he didn’t was because he’s a a-hole. However it would’ve all still happened the way it did… only difference is she would’ve been aware that nothing would ultimately happen so she wouldn’t have been as scared and he wouldn’t get to feel so superior. So yeah, that was fkd up, but the point wasn’t for her to be sexually assaulted. The High Society in this is fk’d up, we’ve seen that time and time again.
And Can we please talk about the actual story instead of you calling my character and taste into question? You don’t know me. I understand people not liking Cesare, and I understand those who can appreciate his character. Cesar is meant to be a morally ambiguous character, and i knew exactly who he was from the very first chapter. I read it knowing this was who he was and rooting for it anyway, so I’m not sure why I would suddenly switch up on one of the two characters that drew me right into the story. I wanted a noble who wasn’t cute puppy eyed or dark and silent because I’ve read a triple dozen of those. I wanted him layered in shades of grey because so many stories try to tell stories from a different time period while keeping the morals of modern days, which often stop my immersion in the story. So I’m having him, portrayed in the same vein as every other noble in this story. He’s just less of a hypocrite than most like Esdra.
What you’re doing is knowing how High Society nobles are portrayed and deciding that you would’ve preferred a ML who went against the norm of their world so you can find him acceptable. What I’m doing is appreciating the world building and the characters being faithful to the world they’re portrayed in. That’s why where you fail to understand why Adelaide would fall for him, I don’t. And that was the best part for me because I couldn’t begin to understand how or why that would happen. But as the story progressed and we met every character and saw Cesare speak his mind in conversations he’s had with her, it finally started to click. Anyway, to each their own.
But the whole point of my Og comment wasn’t to talk about the story lol, it was to shit on Cesar, his redemption ain’t even all that for me to just forget everything he did which is why I’m complaining. You replied to it, idk why tbh….? But my stance on him isn’t changing lmao. Yeah he’s a decent character but for Adelaide? No
Yeah tbh Cesare could be placed on the same level if not lower than matthias from cry or better yet beg. That man makes my blood boil WAAAAY more tbh. Even he has blind supporters, so we don't have to wonder why cesare does lol. I always tell those people the same thing, would they accept a man like that in their life? No. Would they be so forgiving that they forget the abuse and pain he made them go through? No
They find it entertaining only because it's someone else's life and they find it thrilling for the tyrant to transform into a loving male lead. Sorry but I personally hate these tropes.

Usually I would support male leads redeeming themselves but he literally got off on her physical pain. I can never forget him continuously stomping on her feet. Everyone’s mad at her but clearly she just doesn’t know what a healthy romantic relationship is, just look at her upbringing
