I swear I read this a year back but never found it again! it had such great stories and mysteries(ish) the two partners had to solve. I loved the relation between the lovers, but I can't seem to find it again. Excuse me for my poor explanation by the way I have terrible memory

I've read a book in the past! it was about this guy with long white (blonde?) hair I think and with his male partner the two went on mission an example was that there an old couple on a ship were sacrificing people to turn into pearls while they collected the pearls from a siren of some kind and sold it. So, the two were trying to solve where it came from and stuff. That's what I can only remember.
