My first reaction was annoyance that the story is continuing and with pointless drama, but if you think about it, the author is making the story a circle. Owen left without any explanation which made Nux suffer for years. Before this drama, Nux admitted that he still wished they felt horrible. Well, in a way, this is his justice. If he leaves, then Owen will feel the pain he did. Of course, then Owen will do something to win him back the way Nux had to. And maybe that will put them on more of a level playing field then where they are at right now where Nux is basically just a kept pet as that one guy said. Sure Nux is working on making a spacecraft, but other than that, he has no life outside of Owen anymore. So if the story had ended, it would have been happy but not the most fitting end for Nux's character development. The what does the character want vs what the character needs argument. As entertaining as the story is, I definitely found the writing poor at the beginning, but I'm coming to appreciate it more. Owen's actions all make more sense now, Nux's perspective has grown, and now it's time for him to step up and find more of a balance I guess rather than denying Owen in his life and then allowing his entire life to evolve around him.
