i think his company screwed him over? so he has penalty fees to pay to said company. and probably one of the other members of the band as well? after he got sick? I'm not sure either, just context clues.
but he probably feels guilty about getting sick and the band disbanding, but i don't actually think it's his fault it all happened, i need more!!!
