Idk but I have so much love for Ian as a character and since I love him so much it just pains me to see the lack of empathy toward him and seeing his character sometimes get simplified. He is just as tragic if not more tragic than TJ.He had a rough childhood. He was a drug addict. He was raped and the person who happen to be there for him was TJ. Wether TJ has hurt Ian or they have hurt each other over the time they have together. There were still unforgetable moment of gratitude comfort, love and hapiness that they had with one another. Ian has been dying with the feeling of guilt and feeling indebted to TJ for accidentally saving him. When Jason found out about him and TJ. He didn't just decided to leave for just his own sake but fot TJ's as well. He didn't always just chose himself and everytime he tries to chose himself, he got hurt.He selfishly and selflessly chose TJ over himself and his own well being for 20 year straight but TJ never actually did the same. His guilt coupled with his love for TJ for those moment that they had together. He to me is such a selfless character at time and he has never made TJ given up more for him contrary to a lot of people believe. His pain and his guilt is more quiet and he has more restrain on himself from his own emotion. Even in a moment of emotional outburst he would ponder and feel guilt for what he said that might hurt others despite it hurting him as well because those little moment of happiness, comfort and gradttitude that he has for TJ has always has so much emotional value to him that it hard for him to truly not care about TJ completely or selfishly chose himself. Ever since he killed the man in the alley. He has been through so much physically and emotionally draining and life threatening situation. He isnt in a state to be thinking about chosing TJ or between Jo and Tj right now the only thing he knows to do is do this job and try his best not to implicate the others and honestly i'm dreading that he might even get killed even tho he is the mc. (I hope not cus that gonna break me) and yet you'll still see people not acknowledge his pain and instead tie his action to the MLs. He is such a realistic character. His emotion , his guilt. All that to me is so realistic. He is so pathetically human. At least to me. I also like TJ character. I find his character compelling but the love for his character feels more romanticize than it is the love for his character as a whole. His selfishness and the way he is unapologetically himself. The way he knows that he is bad for Ian, the way he try to make ian stay and the way he try to let go of him because he knows he won't give Ian what he wants and yet whenever he get the chance to pull Ian back in. He would. the way he would always crawl back into Ian's arm after every woman. Ian knows their circumstance and how he would never be able to love him out in the open and TJ knows that ian would take it and endures it. He has a tragic past, he do care for Ian in his own way but he is also selfish and has done harm to ian and yet those stuff are what people praise him for being flawed and tragically written while ian who is the same but the empathy toward him are solely revolve around the MLs. I have rooted for them and in a way I still do. Their bond and their history ,relationship, their friendship is complex and has more depth. I have more attachment toward them than I do to Joian but Jo character itself is not bad either. He is morally gray and some people might think of him a pathetic or dumb to risk his life but realistically there are people who are just like that. I think Jo is the best choice. He somewhat deserves to win and if he do chose Jo I don't think Jo would ever be the second choice. Some relationship doesn't work out. That's okay and I believe with time or given the same time that he had with TJ that Ian would come to love Jo just as much as he had with TJ.
