People seem to forget that this is his back story and basically what pushed him to do all the things he did in the future. It doesn't stop his actions from being evil, but it exposes his journey into becoming the Sociopathic, obsessive, self centered Tyrant we see today and his kind of reasoning.
People who're calling him "Evil" like he's always been that way are just privileged and are lucky to have never suffered a suffering where no one has ever given a rats ass about you, and you had to do all manner of debasing things to get to where you are. All this while being VERY self aware. It's easier for people who aren't very self aware to move on from this kind of abuse, but when you've lived this kind of a life whilst being so aware of it and the reasoning behind it, it only ever feels your life with darkness and bitterness. Funnily enough, it's part of what his father saw in him, that made him want to break his spirit. From this back story, I can easily say that his personality finally makes sense, and he is not an inherently evil character, rather his evil side was nurtured in him by his upbringing. Again, not saying a lot of his evil actions can be justified, no they cannot, because most of his victims have nothing to do with what he suffered, so that's another case.
