Calling this 'gaslighting' misrepresents what is happening here. I am not trying to make you doubt your perception of reality. I am simply disagreeing with your interpretation of the situation. We have different viewpoints on whether this action meets the threshold for racism, and having a differing opinion is not the same as psychological manipulation.
I absolutely understand and acknowledge the frustration and the historical pain behind the viewpoint that portraying the only POC character in this way is racist. That's why I'm not attacking anyone. I am simply offering a different interpretation from my own experience. However, I think we need to recognize the potential harm of immediately jumping to the conclusion that the author is racist and mobilizing attacks against them. Please, knowing online discourse works today, this can lead to unwarranted harassment and doxing. Instead of dismissing dissenting views or resorting to labels like 'gaslighting,' and instead of disrespecting people who interpret the situation differently, why not take the time to constructively educate? If our viewpoints are truly 'limited' and yours are superior then please, make us understand why your interpretation holds a monopoly on the truth rather than just using it as an argument stopper. Let's all respect one another
Who called the author a racist? Saying someone had a racial bias does not automatically make them a racist. You can easily research racial biases and stereotypes of dark people depicted in the media. This isn't a foreign concept. You not understanding that IS narrowminded. You are reaching. No one is asking for the author to be harrassed either or doxxed. Blowing this out of proportion is your first problem. Checking one's own bias allows for growth in an already difficult society on race. I hope you choose to grow and digest different viewpoints that your own when someone disagrees rather than pretending to be attacked and promoting empty statements that we should respect one another when the conversation already has respect. You simply don't like the truth. Maybe you should try seeing things for what they are rather than, creating fake scenarios and stretching the truth abiut doxxing? Please start there.
