The "kiss..." Series have all been messy plots. For Kiss me Liar the dad didn't know he was the actually dad until the side stories. He just assumed responsibility because he loved the liar so much.
As much as I wanna agree with you, I think we have to go through this shit of a plot for Chase. He is clearly a wreck and has a fcking trauma because of his Family.
