If author turned up the notch on mc’s exhaustion a bit more with that would have been peak. how it could fuel the insecurity/drive to both succeed for stability as well as the want to stay kidnapped. Maybe he even receives treatment as well he couldn’t afford to get checked out and having the time to rest saves his life or something. That would be a mind fuck
