I'm so conflicted because it did move away from feeling like a clone of another series, but.... physiognomy??? We could've just stuck to the astrology path and still had everything be the same, but the use of a pseudoscience that feels like a smokescreen for discrimination if not outright racism is just,,, such an odd choice to me. T oT
and I have to agree, brainwashing is a bit of a boring copout considering the investment I had in the potential character development up til that point
