That chapter really just shows that Listers abusive personality was always present just dormant bc of status. And even if someone could’ve guessed that from a mile away those few panels really hit hard for me. Maybe I’m too used to very sudden and drastic character changes in shitty manhwas and/or bc the flashbacks don’t immediately paint Lister in a way that would make it super obvious what he would become in the future but as an actual friend to Slyhan and a character I would’ve liked if the manwha took place during that timeframe.

Chp 41 is just one chapter yet explains Lister's character so well, he's an abuser and he doesn't have an ounce of feeling guilty in himself because he believes in his hierarchy that whatever he does is unpunishable. He purposely pulled sylhan's hair and claims he's sorry but he later admits he is not, it's his way of releasing his frustrations that he cannot handle. It explains how he literally dismembers or just kills someone that frustrated him a little that is below him but with sylhan is different, even when sylhan is now a slave he still holds feelings for him and in turn only hits him and lister sees this as being more merciful towards his crush.
(I'm not really good at making thought out essays so I just hope someone understands this)
