partly yes. he's a god, a dragon (?) he has no idea how mentally consuming it is for a human like na-in to witness gory stuffs such as killing. what he only knew about showing his "love" is an instinct of a predator.

Amon was born with high IQ. He's one of the smartest of his kind, however, he has 0 EQ. That's why he "crafted" his partner, Nain, to be his EQ. Unfortunately, Nain's EQ is much higher than anticipated and since Nain is gullible, he's taught to fear his parent/consort. With Amon's teacher terrified of him, his staff abuses that knowledge and manipulate the emotionally inept God into hurting his heavily emotional partner without understanding what's going on. Most of his flirtatious dialogue is just what he had heard his servants say to their partners and assume that's how he's to act.
Amon's staff uses Nain to protect themselves from Amon while also using Amon to protect themselves from Nain's wrath. So the staff is heavily ruining their relationship. Then Gwen swoops in and takes advantage of the situation. Mind you...Amon knows all this is happening but stays quiet because he thinks this is what a "relationship" is suppose to be like; making your partner happy. He doesn't realize he's hurting because he doesn't understand emotions.
Before the ruled, Nain was actually teaching Amon basic feelings centuries prior.
