Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind

They imprinted and soulmated so intensely that, despite having been together for only one summer, even seven years later—and with no memory of the time they spent together—Hakyung’s phantom still haunted Yoon-sung like a handprint on his heart. And that missing piece of his heart condemned him to a life of anguish and torment, even worse than a reality in which the memories remained intact but the person within them was dead. Even though the memories were momentarily gone, that wasn’t enough to erase the feelings they had born in those special moments in time—just like in “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”.

The fact that Yoon-sung would have preferred to die rather than live in a world without the love of his life, all while acknowledging that he had never even truly known him—not even his name, because of all the lies and deception—shows how sensitive he is. A sensitive boy who was wronged so deeply, deceived for years by a family who, convinced they knew what was best for him, ended up being the true cause of his misfortune and prolonged suffering.

Finally, after meeting again and Yoon-sung instantly recognized Hakyung at first sight—just as he had once written in his diary—and as he was finally given a second chance at love, a second chance to hold onto the person he wished to cherish and protect more than anything in the world, Hakyung, too, came to understand that he is not a man who simply gives up. He deserves the chance to fight for and hold onto what he desires and longs for—and what he had been silently yearning for all those years was none other than Yoon-sung: the man he had been forced to abandon for money, the man he had tried to forget, the reason his life was filled with regret.

They could never have been happy without each other.

Thank you Grandpa for settling this situation once and for all from the grave.
