It seemed to me like he was facing the future forward, I think that even if you smile and laugh and ''move on'' doesn't stop you from grieving when you are left alone with your thoughts. He had someone beside him, he wasn't left alone. He had a plenty of exercise(?) so he was tired and just fell asleep etc etc? XDD something like that?
