That sounds like running away. This "break" you are talking is nothing but running away instead of faceing and resolve their problems
you're right, the break won't fix anything of they don't discuss the problems that they have.
But I feel that if Nemu tried to confront Maya in this Maya would just change the subject...
What if the break means, just the two of them going to a retreat/camp/hot springs. And talk everything out there? No Ruka, no Maya's dad, no Nemu's mom. Just the two of them?
Prob add Maya's big bro and his lover, just in case things might not go so well (Seeing what happened during confrontation) + a little side story *wink*

Seriously! Maya and Nemu needs a break in their relationship. First, Nemu needs it so that he can get over his insecurities and find confidence in himself without Maya hindering him. Second, Maya needs it so that he learns not to be so oblivious about his lover's feelings or the feelings and intentions of other people around him. Their relationship right now is too toxic and fragile that it is so heartbreaking to read every chapter. In my opinion this break up really needs to happen, so that when they get back together again(if fate allows it), their relationship will be stronger than ever.
