Apparently it's true. Her mother is a total jerk!! She always makes violet wear boy's cloth and demand violet not to call her 'mother' but call her name as her husband.
At chap7 page 14, is it Violet's memory during her childhood? When her mother make violet wear man's cloth bc she resembles her father.
