He is a character that gives all his effort and happiness for love, so much so that he has no truly visible happiness in the other parts of his life. He would do anything for his lover, but hates doing anything for anyone else because he doesn't care about them (but he does show random spurts of kindness for strangers in need)

I'm trying to explain about Hananoi's character to a friend, but it's kinda hard.. Especially the part which how obviously different it is the way he acts to people other than Hotaru.
