Sorry this is hella long
The lil spoilers, but most of the story is the emperor and Rashta (think that’s how you spell it) against the Female lead.
Because he has rose tinted glasses on, he believes most of the stories Rashta tells him and throws tantrums towards the FL. The FL however, calmly accepts it and doesn’t pour gasoline onto the fire. The emperor gets even more upset with her because she’s emotionless while he’s throwing his tantrum.
This is just where I drew the line on the emperor. After yelling, ignoring, belittling her, and literally house arresting her, he decides it’s fine to act lovey dovey and tried to make a move. As if he wasn’t mentally draining her and putting stress on her. She of course pushes him away because she didn’t like the fact he did the same to Rashta (and because he’s a dick). He then again gets upset at her saying “I don’t want a colleague as a wife.” He really doesn’t deserves her after she endured so much bull.
After that he gets jealous whenever she meets up with men (for work purposes, like trading and meeting up with princes from different countries) But instead of saying he’s jealous he says something along the lines of “Don’t get too close to men because that will give us a bad reputation. What would people think once I got a new concubine you’re with other men?” Basically saying others will say the emperor and empress doesn’t have a good relationship and that’s never good since they’re the rulers of the country.
The FL does feel a bit heart broken when the emperor wanted Rashta as his concubine, and when Rashta openly stated “Were sisters now because we share the same husband” not because she loves him, but because no one would want to share their husband in a sense. But don’t worry she isn’t the type of MC that takes all insults and does nothing. The empress is smart so she starts making some plans and started to do a background check on Rashta.

Most of the novel would be the emperor and Rashta talking behind her back. The emperor saying she needs to get off her high horse because she doesn’t comply to Rashta’s wishes. When talking to the empress he’s always on the defense basically saying she needs a reality check because of her ‘unsightly’ actions towards Rashta. He believes that she's Harming Rashta because she’s jealous in the beginning and later on just thinks she’s trying to gain something. What’s even more irritating is Rashta, in her free time, goes to the empress often to start problems. Once she starts a commotion she always runs back to the emperor to pretend to be the victim. But this is were our great MC tells the emperor how far his head is up his butt to believe she would go through all this trouble when she has important work to attend to. What she says to the emperor is something along the lines of “Rashta is your concubine, not mine. I shouldn’t be the one attending and taking care of her that’s your job.” And I think she told him, I want her to leave me alone.
And Rashta twisting stories to make the FL out to be a villain. Ex) Because of the empress status no one can easily come up to her and talk as they please, however Rashta runs up to her multiple times and says some rude shet. Saying she’s spiteful to her because the emperor doesn’t love her, making a scene and suddenly putting words into the empress mouth so people around them would think she’s cruel. When simply the empress doesn’t respond or doesn’t want Rashta to call her casually. (Which makes sense cause she’s literally telling the whole kingdom “I got yo man”)
The new character with blonde hair that appears in the latest chapter is the ML. As we can see he and the empress exchanged notes from time to time. Sad to say that the bird that delivers the messages is like her only friend. She can’t speak openly about the situation of Rashta and the emperor to her maids, and she doesn’t have any friends. So she’s often alone in her room crying after a hard days of work :’( poor thing
As the emperor and empress hold events to bring nobles together for a party and to discuss about business, this prince also arrives. He knows the empress is his pen pal, but pretends to not know for his scheme in mind (He dislikes Rashta and the emperor because of the way they treated the empress, who he sees as a dear friend)
At the party the emperor ignored the FL and left her to find Rashta. This causes a lot of nobles to talk badly about her, saying a concubine is more favored than her. She becomes a downhearted about how much the emperor doesn’t even care about her and runs to Rashta. She decides to just sit on the side. However once music started playing a cute scene of the prince and the Empress dancing together begins. They chat for the first time and it’s just adorable. Once it’s over the emperor quickly walked over and stole her for another dance to keep up his reputation. He begins to become jealous about her dancing with the prince that he comes off like a toxic bf “how do you know him?” “Why did you dance with him?” “Are you close?” “Don’t go near him again” “he’s a player, what would others think of the empress of you’re hanging near him” and so on, like Dafaq chill m8.
After seeing the Emperor run off to dance with the FL, Rashta became really furious. She was thinking “the emperor loves me so much yet he ran to that woman?!” Which is hypocritical because she was the one saying to get along with each other because they share a husband. She had him to himself for many months, but a simple dance set her off. Once he left the empress yet again, Rashta became all lovey dovey with him. Sadden by that scene, the Empress left to her room.
This is where things start to get annoying. During this time we learn Rashta isn’t a naive and air headed character, we know she is calculating and sneaky. She uses this information to ‘play’ with the prince. She uses her maid to pretend to be the princes penpal, and when things backfired she plays the victim and savior of the maid. Saying she was the actual penpal and wanted her maid to get a chance to be close with the prince, since she herself was the emperors woman. All the other nobles think she’s kind and considerate. She wants attention and enjoy the way two powerful people are ‘fighting’ over her (although it’s one sided with the emperor because the Prince doesn’t give a rats ass and is enjoying his mischievous play) After a while the Prince causes a huge commotion once he ‘finds’ out Rashta was lying about being his pen pal. She becomes flustered and says she was only playing around and wanted to have fun. The prince begins to bad mouth the country saying “so this is how your country treats a person love? To easily manipulate and mock me?” The emperor becomes pissed as hell for accusing his woman as a liar. In the end the empress had to calm the situation down and handle the party that was still in session. She took the princes side because she obviously knew she was his pen pal. The emperor became even more upset that the FL didn’t take Rashta’s side. He becomes more of an asshat after this. This is when he told her to keep away from foreign men (#1 being the prince) and started to throw more tantrums than normal because of how hurt Rashta was -_-

This part is starting to get good! This is where the FL starts to take action!
Where I’m currently at, Rashta is at a tough patch. We find out that Rashta was really a runaway slave, when her previous owner met her at one of the banquets the emperor held. Things start going down hill after this. Rumor spreads that she is a runaway slave that managed to survive thanks to the emperor favoring her. Slowly by slowly her popularity goes down and barely any nobles speak with her and shower her in compliments anymore. She finds out that she is pregnant soon after, which she is thrilled for expecting her child to become a prince/ princess and to receive expensive gifts all around. Unfortunately to her, her previous owner starts to threaten her with information she doesn’t want the emperor to find out. In fear that she would be discarded easily and won’t be able to enjoy nobles looking up to her and the riches he offered. (That information being, she already has a child with her old owners son.) after being black mailed she gives away all her precious jewels the emperor gifted her. She was so desperate she even asked the empress if she could have her concubine allowance without the emperor knowing how she spent it. After the noble took enough money to buy a mansion in the capitol and an excessive amount of maids, he then blacked mail her again. Saying to give his daughter the most expensive and beautiful dress that should’ve been tailored for Rashta herself lel. Now Rashta just drifts around from place to place in the Palace. She tries to sabotage the Empress multiple times to gain pity from by standers, which always back fires. Every time it does she runs straight to the emperor to complain, somehow he has some common sense left and doesn’t always jump to agree with her. He always talks to her like a parent telling their kid right from wrong.
The empress starts keeping an eye out for Rashta to see if anything suspicious is happening. Then, of course, she receives information that the noble that claimed to be Rashta’s owner frequently visits her. She finds this weird because the emperor threatened the same noble to take back what he said to kill down the rumors now spreading around his concubine. The FL decides to get close with the nobles daughter, to make Rashta worry about her situation and if information spreads. The empress acts very kindly to the nobles daughter. (The daughter is obsessed with the empress because she is very beautiful and kind, she even has like 30 portraits of her •-•; yikes) while taking her out for a walk she bumps into Rashta, she puts on a very kind act in front of her. Calling Rashta’s enemy, very friendly and cute. Going so far as to calling her sister, Rashta shows a very nasty face because something she tried so hard to do with the empress was easily obtained by the person she hated. The Empress is trying to stay close to this family so she can find out more of Rashta’s hidden secrets to use her weakness as her trump card. But she has to slowly develop a trusting relationship with the nobles daughter, to not raise suspicion.
Also the development between the Empress and the ML (the prince) are going pretty well! Not too long after we find the prince whole heartedly love the empress, but of course not being able to make a move. The only option opened to take her in currently is to start a war and take her as a bride, which would have bad backlash. The prince is now the king when his older brother dies. He rejects any bride proposals to be his empress because he loves the FL very much. She sees him as a very good friend because she never had anyone supportive beside her when things get rough. But when it’s time for the prince to leave to go back to his own country she becomes really sad. She feels empty inside not being able to see him in who knows how long. It was a sad scene ;-; she was crying in her room after the prince left. She grew attached to his messenger bird, who was like her comfort animal.
