I think the boss overrated it and being so harsh

I don't think he is. Because if you can remember from a few chapters back how his pervious lover basically used him because of who he is and who his famous father is. And that's what MC did to him/was his ultramotive for looking for the Boss in the first place. Though it changed a long the way and he fell for the Boss. MC didn't tell him the truth whicb hurt him deeply.
