The concept of the story for me is actually unique and I love stories where the situations are messed up since you want to know how it would end but this one was badly written...
I think Hara being a jerk or a dumb guy and Ume being desperate was ok for me since it what makes them unique characters rather than being basic, even the side characters of the manga now that they both have terrible traits which all people have.
BUT the big problem of the story is that Hara got everything too easy, I was really happy when Hara got jealous and realize that Ume can be taken by other people, BUT I WANT HIM TO SUFFER MORE cuz 20 years is a lot and Hara realizes his friend's love overnight like wtf
Tbh it's okay for me that they both end up together but again, Hara got it too easy and Ume accepted it too quickly... I wish there was a part where Ume does let go of him and goes out with his fuck buddy (he look like he was nice guy) so that Hara will realize that he's taking Ume for granted
TLDR; Could have been a great story but it was badly written and executed especially at the last part
