Not completely sure but I think its because when snakes shed they're vulnerable. So I guess a wild "feral" female wouldnt care about waiting it out and would rather just kill her spouse

(⊙…⊙ ) I suppose it's the law of jungle ! but SHE is a humain living in a big city in 21 century ! if she is not intersting in snake she will never guess about its life.
