well, i am guessing that a lot of people were more concerned as to like she could have at least paid him for working for 2 hours on her.
In that century and time, survival is more important than ambition cause no one, specially commoners, are guaranteed to succeed.
This is just my perspective though. I personally do like it that she was frank, but she should have at least paid him despite the honest statement. How else would he buy food or even paint for his career?
Well i understand this but this isn't about money here that's my point, people are too concentrated about this detail and missing the real message behind and that's not really relevant since thanks to her,he will paint really much better because he will think and "ponder " like she said and he is going to gain more money anyway.
this isn't the real world this is fiction, there is nobody to feel sorry for since this doesn't exist.
Also would you expect a villain to pay for something he didn't like?
maybe that's a detail that add to the fact that she is a bad character that does bad thing
why would she care about him having enough money to live?
you got a point. It's like going to a restaurant and getting the wrong meal. Why pay for the wrong meal...?
But if you take a bite from that wrong meal, you should still pay for it...
Plus, I don't think there is a necessary part for her to play the villain, a villain specifically on a person who most likely had her back in her first time-line.
If it was the others who did her wrong, I can understand. Also, I agree with your points of not sugar coating and letting his true self come out. Not rely on money and go with his heart and what-not. The thing is, the manhwa was so dedicated to being more realistic about human emotions that it took a quick dive into Shounen-Jump trope that it surprised me. OFC, we know this will be solved with him showing his true colors, literally with his painting ability.
I just expected her to be a bit more civil about that interaction I suppose. But, I do at the end agree with your statement. Just that as a person and a reader, I felt that conversation to be rude, that's all.

Wth people you don't understand that what she did was helpful to him? even if she did it in a manner that was agressive he needed this, an artist should be sincere with himself and his art, what was on the painting wasnt something that didn't deserve money, but something that didn't honoured himself, she didn't want to pay for that since she knows him very well.
from this point on ,she made him react on what he was doing until now please the clients in order to gain more money? that's soo badd
you should just stay true to yourself and paint what YOU want.
i am an art student myself i do art in the service of people (architecture design etc) people that paint for money are in totally other category from us,they paint using they're own personal way of seeing things and that why they're so differents style of painting, ones that may please you or not but at least it's their way of seeing the world.
at least she didn't act like an hypocrite and told him that everything was okay like a good fl would have done, we have a villain right here people i don't know if you have forgotten but that's what she is.
