Honestly same... what the brother did to both yuu and the “uke” was really crappy. However.. if you love someone you don’t want to just give them up. If you were dating someone your best friend liked (but wasn’t dating) would you give them up just because your best friend has a crush on them? The same thing applies to the older brother. Plus, if he gave her up and she started dating yuu, we wouldn’t have a story.
