The FL is ice, the ML is heat. FL has ice powers on par with ML, but cannot control them well.
When "traditional" methods of warming her up during an episode happen, he has sex with her. He doesn't go straight to it. Sometimes, just him being next to her, rubbing or touching her, works.
It's when she turns into an FLicle that he does the dirty deed. It makes sense, when you think about it; if she needs to warm up, it's better to start from the inside, out.
So, like I said, the smut is not gratuitous and has a functional use.

As some of you already suspected, chapter 17 cuts off right before the smut. I don't know if or when they are going to do part two. Considering this already is labeled as smut, it makes no sense to censor it.

Based on what what her father said in chapter 47, it seems she is an aspy or at the very least on the spectrum with hyperfocus.
Considering Japan isn't really known for their consideration of mental and behavioral health conditions, it's interesting to see a character like this!
That's what I also thought, she is smart and has great hyperfixation towards being a doctor. She lacks empathy and just focuses on the results she wants.
And has little to no understanding about societal hierchy and such while behaving and treating everyone equal in a sense
Are there seriously a few screws loose with the author and/or artist? What the heck kind of "confession" was that? I'm in agreement with many people here: the quality of the story has gone way down.
I don't know if it would have made any difference, but shit, explain things honestly. She could have said:
"I was going through a very hard time when I found you in a vulnerable state. I knew who you were and took advantage of you because I experienced something of a megalomanic episode. Then, when you noticed that I had changed, I really did."
"In truth, I lived another life as a other person in another world, where everything we are going through was a story written in a book that I had read, albeit a little different. I was suddenly hurled into this world with no memory of who I was except what I read about. So, even though I didn't remember anything about us in detail, I thought the best thing was to set you free."
"So, yes, I left you. I thought that was for the best. I started to do good works to try and make amends for what the other me did to you. I really didn't remember. But then, recently and very suddenly, my memory came back."
"She and I became one person, but as that person, I became arrogant again because I thought we were both in love with each other."
"But then I found out you did what the story ending said you would; you reconstructed that building. I was scared. So I fled, again. I felt I had to. I thought I knew what you would do based on the story. That you'd confine me and leave me, like I did you."
"Now I'm here because you chased after me. So I ask you: Can we talk, clear the misunderstandings, and be honest about our feelings, for once? Can we started again?"
But of course, anything remotely like this dialogue wouldn't happen, because God forbid any Korean or Japanese comic have characters with basic communication skills, particularly if they involved, *gasp*, emotions!

I'll just go over the "memory returns" arc. There are one or two arcs that follow. They are also a little crazy.
SPOILER ALERT
ML gets his memory back very abruptly after sleeping for a month. He pretends to be FLs anmesiac husband, but starts treating her like crap. He is constantly at odds with the personality of the ML who lost his memory (amnesiac husband); they did not merge, but became distinctive.
Eventually, ML comes to hate FL, plots revenge on her instead of killing her (she was his original assassination target), and after she finally reciprocates his feelings of love, even after being treated like shit (including -technically- raping her), he leaves her, but not without destroying her emotionally (he kills/destroys a 500-year old tree).
He does this because he believes FL to be the reason his adoptive mother was killed. He was digging the grave in the first chapter to bury her after killing her, to get his revenge on her for causing his mother to die. The truth is, she IS partly to blame, but it's complicated.
It takes a few weeks for FL to finally motivate herself to move forward. She realizes that the man who she considered her "husband" is dead, and she symbolically buries him (she literally has a funeral for him). She also finds out she is pregnant, unfortunately, from the rape.
There are one or two arcs after the "memory returns" arc. Eventually, the ML personalities merge, with the amnesia one being dominant. The smut ends after the "memory returns" arc though. I don't recall anything past kissing.
