Ooooh yes. That's the best way to hurt someone you're close with. I did it a lot to my parents when I was a teenager and when they were saying mean things about me unfairly and freely (yeah my parents are like that...).
I can assure you it works well because I didn't need to wait 72h before they came back to me apologizing for what they did.
