The 'brother' in question is someone he was close with before, he just borrowed the identity of that older brother so no one finds out that mc came from the future, it's not going to be the same world because he altered a lot, especially the big tradegy that led to his father finding him, he saved the students and the butterfly effect is that they didn't find lil mc right away, which means lil mc was robbed of the father big mc cherished

my personal take on this!!
we saw how he hurt people around him as a kid, tried to get things go his way, used his position to get away w stuff. and it all worked. he got away w so much stuff just because of his position, and he was very well aware of it. everyone was afraid of him. even if people from society didnt know he was "deranged" as they say, they all still kept their distance and acted as his "subjects". they all "submitted" to him out of respect, tradition, awe and fear. thats something that was naturally given to him, something he didnt want. when u put a person under the pressure and expectations, u have (most of the time) two common reactions. one will go along w it and crumble under it slowly, and the other will rebel against it and feel disgusted if u will. he is the latter. he was quite aware of his position from the very young age. he thinks anyone can do it and that he doesnt need to be THE one. he thinks little about status because all he has ever seen is fear and submission from people. well, he did do a LOT of stuff to cause fear.. but anyways, that was his way to show how power only comes w a last name, w status. no one dared to see him as something "lower", "dirty", "impure", to call him names. he grew up being seen as some beautiful, proper, higher being because he was a crown prince. i would say he longed for it the more he knew he wouldnt get it because of his tittle.
take on example Courtneys mother. she is greedy, she wants people to see her as someone w a higher position only because of her daughters marriage. but she will never be able to be that something she wants, her position doesnt allows it. her behavior only makes it worse. i see Richard and Courtneys mother as two opposite sides of the same coin. he wants to be something lesser and she wants to be something much more. neither of them can get it. Courtneys mother buys jewelry and dresses to "pretend" and to fit in higher class. while Richard can meet his needs through letting someone dominate over him. i would say there is something more about his situation, but at the same time, i feel like there is no need to add in anything. some people are just either born w a little bit of twisted mind or they get shaped eventually into it. as for why he likes Courtney, i feel like he liked/enjoyed how she didnt care where she was and could openly argue w her mother. she yelled at her pretty much, and at the time, people saw such behavior as "hysterical". not only did u need to be a proper lady but u also needed to show respect towards ur parents. and that scene probably lighted up hope in him that she wouldnt see him as his status only. he knew they would get there at some point probably LMFAO

We know, but with the context of the masc lesbian raping the girl and blackmailing her, it just feels like one of those stories where the author fetishizes wlw relationships in the same way yaoi authors will make grown men look like little girls and then make the entire plot them getting taken advantage of by abusive buff dudes, if that makes sense? Like in these wlw and mlm stories, the authors take it upon themselves to establish a clear woman/man dynamic even tho they're both the same sex

No the author just has weird fetishes. This is clearly not written by a man, u can see from her other work as well. Also she does not "look like a man." Shes butch and she looks butch whats with the level one lgbt shit

Ur not entirely wrong about the yaoi stuff but its not applicable here. She is simply a butch lesbian The story here is whack but nothing abour it screams "heterosexual relationship standin!!" They're lesbians doing bdsm and one of them is butch. Butches are rare in Yuri to begin with so its absolutely not comparable to the yaoi oroblem

It really is comparable tho, bdsm is not rape. And no one is denying that butch lesbians exist, my point is that because butch lesbians get so little representation within Yuri, the fact that the plot of this one is so much like a yaoi (with the rape disguised as bdsm and overall toxic plot) just feels iffy, hence why the original commenter said it was a "girl yaoi". The author may have weird fetishes, I haven't had a chance to look at her other works, but the way this one was written specifically just feels off

I never said BDSM is rape. I acknowledge the first sex scene is sexual assault. However they're doing BDSM petplay for most of the story. And Im saying that butchfemme is not comparable to yaoi authors treating ukes as stand-ins for women because Butchfemme is rare in yuri to begin with.

I do get your point, but I still believe it is comparable cuz just because the butch representation is small in yuri, doesn't mean what little representation they have will be represented correctly. Whether or not it is comparable is subjective I suppose, I'm not saying that writing a butch character in yuri is automatically giving her a "male" dynamic with the other girl, however it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when they write the objectively stronger and more masculine appearing character as a vengeful predator who takes advantage of the other's weakness.

Perhaps I only feel this way because it was a very short story that began with rape, followed with blackmail, and ended with a 10 year time skip and a good ending, so we have pretty much no insight into who these characters are as people. If this had been a fully fleshed out story, then I perhaps could've looked past it's beginnings

Just cause the story is wack doesn't mean you claim that mascu lesbians are yaoi or straight you weirdo

k I get what you guys are saying. I wasn’t trying to say butch lesbians aren’t valid or that looking masculine is a bad thing. I just felt like the way the character was drawn, paired with the whole plot being fetishy and badly written — rape to blackmail to a random happy ending — gave off the same vibe that’s seen in most yaoi, just with female characters. I get that my wording came off wrong though :P

I'm glad I understood your point from the beginning and wasn't defending someone for no reason lmaoo, people get very defensive when it comes to representation and I feel like sometimes that leads them to fully reject any criticism of whatever little rep they get. No hate to these people but this is a touchy subject so opinions often get misconstrued if they aren't articulated perfectly
