No Raphael and Rowan this chapter :(
But we got to see Daniel. Remember Daniel?
I never thought I’d ever see Alcatraz depicted in a manwha.
Here’s chapter 28, enjoy!

I wonder why they decided to adapt “Payoff” as a Payback side story instead of properly giving it its own story?
I wonder if they’ll also cover Paid-Payback?
IMO that one was annoying. They upped Jay’s uncle/Alice’s Labirynth’s owner annoying attitude up to 11 and we don’t really see the manager and Hansoo much either :/
jay's uncle pmo so badly in this one already.. oh gods. ive never rly liked jay's uncle, he's always been a bit creepy to me, but that might js be my opinion.
ive a question about the book tho, is it like half and half? half jay's backstory and half his POV on meeting yohan? or does jay's backstory take up like the entire story or smth like that
I don’t remember very well because it’s been a while since I read the novels, I just vividly remember feeling super annoyed with the plot.
It has a new conflict and villain and Hansoo and the manager are basically sidelined, instead the uncle takes up a lot of screen time.
I don’t think Jay’s backstory and POV takes up all the volume, but it was a fairly long chapter from what I can remember.
There’s a lot of internal monologues, so we know exactly where the characters stand, but they themselves down. Mokwa admitted in this chapter that he learned a long time ago to keep things to himself, so I get him not being very vocal even when he has an aha! Moment, but what’s Nakwon’s excuse? He’s a major chatter bug and he’s already embarrassed himself in front of Mokwa multiple times, so it’s not that. One of them needs to talk to the other.
Overall I like their dynamics and their lack of inter-communication is not annoying because it doesn’t really detract from the narrative, but I just think it’ll be nice if they knew each other’s thoughts more.
i have felt this way too, but i liked that nakwon is so annoying with his chatter and still doesn’t communicate well because a lot of people really do the same. and nakwon is always second guessing things when it comes to mokhwa because of his S1 guilt and then when he does speak up it’s something really nasty and rude and not what he meant to say, because nasty is his default. i liked that he kept struggling with communication so much. this is probably the first time he had to put so much thought into what he’s doing, then think so much retroactively about what he did, and then end up saying the wrong thing and ruining it anyway. good shit

People keep asking what makes MC so appealing to everyone and I just remembered an episode of SVU where a girl was victimized again and she said something along the lines of “do I have a sign on my forehead” or some such to which the replay was that victims are more prone to Being re-victimized ( I could be misremembering completely, but it sounded fitting for this story).
MC was assaulted way back by that old man and in Criminal Minds there was an episode where Gideon said something along the lines of the victims not screaming out because they didn’t think they deserved to be saved (again paraphrasing). It was stated in the very beginning that MC looks strong but is actually a crybaby. I think his self worth is low snd he doesn’t think highly of himself thus making himself an easy target unfortunately. His experiences have shaped him even if he’s not aware because he’s been trying to survive this whole time.
It’s actually very bleak, but it’s the apocalypse, I guess.
it could just be poor writing from the manga author too. It didn't make sense to me when the MC walked out into the middle of the street naked and injured, then shortly after he was sexually assaulted by 3 strangers passing by. I see the situation that he wanted to have his clothes back, but going out in the middle of the street in the middle of an apocalypse full of zombies? I don't see any sense in the sense of realistic choices
Yeah, some (or most) of the situation is poor writing, but overall I guess it’s true that victims tend to be re victimized more often. In this story, the only one we’ve seen and know has been assaulted before is MC.
Oh I thought he went out because the ml already told the zombies not to attack the mc
