I have read a comment somewhere about the novel. They had written that the ML still will cheat on MC in the future again when drunk or something but this time the MC will not confront him.
Can u tell me is this true or not, does the novel even have a satisfactory ending.
I really wanna read it but I am afraid I will be more angry and depressed than anything.
I don't wanna go through a toxic read again just for an unsatisfactory ending. Is there gonna be any sort of revenge towards the ML and his friends or not.
(〜 ̄△ ̄)〜 or if I should just skip this
Girl, I am telling you this in all honesty. Shao Qun is the President of the Scum Gongs, he will lie and cheat until you cough blood on the first half of the novel. Even when Li Chengxiu runs away, he will make Chengxiu's life hell (r4pe, etc.). Even until the end, he is a scum. The only HE is the extras because he is compromising as much as Li Chengxiu is compromising with him. There is no revenge, there will only be wife crematorium. Li Chengxiu is incapable of hurting another person in ways you can imagine. He just that kind of rabbit. And Shao Qun is a wolf that deserves beating.
Shao Qun's (ML) sick obsession with Li Chengxiu (MC) is something to behold especially when you enjoy severe dogblood elements. About its satisfactory ending, it depends on the reader really. My own opinion: Shao Qun's wife chasing arc is satisfying to me, he was really at rock bottom. And I love pathetic gongs chasing their shou's ass all around. He is so pathetic and I really love that.
Pilgyeon really struck me. I am not justifying his actions, and I am never siding with his wrongdoings, but I believe his end is really cruel for him. Soongap is the very reason he tried so hard, but in the end, Soongap was erased from him. I think it's his retribution for the things that he did, but it really makes me so sad. As a child, Pilgyeon witnessed things that no one should, and yet he chose to prioritize the one promise he could hold onto: to look after Soongap. Pilgyeon’s efforts, though misguided at times, come from a place of deep care and desperation. He wants to do right by Soongap, even if it’s flawed or self-serving. He is caught between a desire to protect Soongap and his own internal struggles—a combination of naivety and goodness. And all his life, right before he loses everything, including his memory, he wakes up each day and continues to push through life, showing up for Soongap even when his heart is broken. His persistence, even when his heart is shattered, speaks to his resilience and the complexity of his character. Pilgyeon is a tragic yet deeply human character, struggling to navigate his love, his past, and his sense of duty.
This is still one of the best books I've ever read. I first picked it up in 2022 and immediately fell in love. The way it tackles themes like agriculture, slavery, family, and royalty during the Joseon Era is incredible. It took me on an emotional rollercoaster—I cried a lot, but it also made my heart feel full. Despite the violence, the story of Soongap and Bongchun, two traumatized souls healing together, is so gentle and precious. They deserve their peaceful life, and I couldn’t ask for more.
The side characters also left a deep impact on me. Mojil’s kindness broke me, and I’m glad Soongap found peace with Bongchun. Losing Mojil made Soongap lose his drive for a while, but I hope Mojil is at peace now. Pilgyeon was tragic—his love for Soongap was rooted in care, even if his actions were flawed. His persistence, despite heartbreak, shows the complexity of his character.
This story is so underrated—why isn’t everyone talking about it? I’d love to see more of Soongap and Bongchun, but I know they’re living their best lives. I hope they stay together for many lifetimes because they truly deserve it.

I get where the mother is coming from, but that's just so much inappropriate hostility towards someone who's obviously harmful. And can't she see that Emi genuinely sees Toshio as a friend? This lowkey pissed me off. Anyway, Emi and Toshio are so cute. Shindoh is still himself, and I like that very much. I hope nothing but joys and laughters to them especially Toshio.
