The only reason he separated himself from Niki is because he loves him and sacrifices everything for the guy, but doesn't get anything in return ; Niki does not understand his needs and their relationship's going nowhere. Also, by spoiling so much the mangaka, Niki's never gonna make any progress in life, so he thought of doing it for both of them.
He's so kind and loving, I'm still falling hard for Shouji (▰˘◡˘▰)
