i LOVE how fleshed out all of the characters are. for smth taht's only 16 chapters, it feels like while i'm still at the beginning of the exposition, i've spent hours reading it. i can confidently say i'm more aware of what all the side characters are doing rn more than i am with the MC, and i'm honestly in love with that. because MC clearly's got his own shit going on, with some deep depression, but you can see the slight shift in how he replies to the guy he did the hand-combat with when asked what his sect is, versus in the beginning when he told his own senior that he had 0 ties to wudang and its name. meanwhile the same senior no longer holds back his fist to wait for his opponent's reply as he once did in earlier chapters when representing wudang, and now accommodating the new martial arts to his representation of wudang. because MC utilizes the old martial arts, such as drunken footwork and traditions of combat, while now, his senior brother is using more pragmatic fighting styles that don't display the same flexibility that traditional martial arts might offer in one's daily life outside of just fighting.
he stresses me out not bc of anything he's done but bc he's literally someone who doesn't seem to have ever felt happiness. he literally could be considered the most "normal" dude out there (assault waved off as sexual encounters being a part of normalized society), and therefore he wouldn't have such a tragic or explicitly abusive childhood to give him an inkling that life could be so happy in comparison. rather, the normalization of emptiness is such a silent death of so many ppl, it makes me sad LOL. like i'm stressed for this dude LOL
so many ppl hate the blood cult leader, but tbh, i love him. he's like our honorary annoying cast member, the diversity card amongst our personality hires. i also like how him and the scrawny dude r like, foils or smth (idk, my brain isnt big enough for this), but like, one is metaphorically chained, and the other is literally geographically chained, yet appear outwardly different, but are complementary in both personality and desires. both seem to really only have one main reason to live, and that is for freedom. you see that both are seemingly obsessed with the idea of freedom, fields, grass, and clear skies, as shown through the chained man's hallucinations, and the blood lord (or whatever he's called)'s generational trauma of wanting to escape the badlands. and it's like, the chained man has no will to live, and is selfless in the sense that he wants to escape this world to live freely, while the other dude is greedy for life and materialistic things, because he wants his people to live on free land. it's like one is comparably selfless bc the other appears selfish, but the selfish one is borne from a desire to preserve his people, and the other just does not gaf and i think that's rlly funny. and ik that one is meant to be dumb and the other is meant to be the strategist, but they both like to scream a lot idk LMAOO. idk, this is like, what i imagine some werid biblical moses to be like LOLLL
