so i've been curious cause i've been seeing "this" these days and since i don't know that area/topic particularly well i wanna ask people.
it's that why do scanlations/translation groups (idk the official term sorry) fight/argue over a manga/manhua/manhwa/etc?
*not saying anything bad to any groups, but i'm just curious. also not talking about this manga specifically i've just been reading other stuff with some of the same drama as well, that's why*
maybe it might sound bias since i don't know their POV on these topics but i'll try my best for my tone to not sound or seem rude to anyone. (pardon for my english, it's not my first language)
-why fight over it if groups can help each other? well i've read somewhere that it really is rude to steal someones work of scanning/cleaning/redrawing/translating/typesetting/proofreading/etc. also obviously, sharing it and/or claiming it as theirs are a foul and a big no no.
but what if it's also the other groups OWN work of doing the chapter of that manga? so they didn't steal anything. so i think maybe now the only problem is not informing the original group who translated it...? and if they notified them , can't they just collab for a bit?
-why do some make it sound like they own the book/manga when we (the viewers, the one translating, and sharing this) are doing something very illegal ?hahaha
also isn't the reason people do this is because 1. no money to support author 2. to share such a wonderful story to others 3... well i can;t think of a three sorr you guys can add
anyway what was the fight for again ?

Most of the time I read from this website if:
A. Availability. No legal English translation available anywhere.
B. The legal translation is taking too long.
C. When I'm broke and may pay hasn't come yet.
I get the whole, don't steal group A translations and show it as yours deal. I also understand why it is necessary to keep them on discord and not on this website.
But as you pointed out, it is group B's translation, group B's raw and group B's effort, why argue? On the other hand, I get it. What's the point of translating the story of another group is doing it.
But if it's not readily available?
Not everyone can join/use discord. It's too complicated. Some servers want total interaction, you have to have a role etc. But not everyone will do that? Most people just want to read the story?
Totally understandable tho, especially with some readers posting screenshots in social media..

I think people get mad more over the reason that reading it here is technically illegal. And because it is the author(s) and team don't make any money when we read it like this. It’s especially hard since the demand for manga/anime is so high but the pay isn’t all that good.
