This is the Sungyeong's and Hosik's 2nd life. 1st was the one where hosik died because of decease. There 3rd life is the modern one (main story). Where they finally reunites and gets happy ending. Also in 2nd life Sungyeon remembered hosik from their 1st life but not hosik and in their 3rd life (only my own theory) i guess Sungyeon remembers only a bits of their previous lives this is he was so prossessive for hosik not leaving any chance to loose him this time.
