yea i'm just not a fan of the backstory. yes, it's tragic and sad, but it feels overly familiar. the whole trauma = villainy trope is worn thin at this point. imagine if JK had been raised in privilege, with two genuinely loving and supportive parents, and despite that, he still descended into sociopathy. would have been far more disturbing, and more original. but i guess a writer should stick to what they know. whatever
