As weird as it started, it ended well. With dynamics like these, large amounts of time apart are the only way to deal with it healthily. If the kid has time to themselves to interact with others and grow on their own (without the interference of the other party) they get their own identity and an outside perspective on their life (basically: not being groomed). It’s still weird that the age gap is that big (like why couldn’t it have been like 5 years instead of fucking 8), but it did serve an important part of the plot (that even though he’s 10, it’s clear that he was a born-leader).
Anyways, I wanna talk about Hanu (before Zain obviously). Like, first off: age of consent is 18 and its socially enforced? Amazing. Omegas aren’t oppressed? Amazing. Succession not being based off of place in lineage? Awesome. This country is so progressive it kinda hurts that it’s fictional. I wish I could’ve seen more bureaucracy in the end. Also kids.
