I think that the autor didn't think of the end of the "case", and just left it like that... I mean... the story began totally different.
It is supposed to get based off a series of books. So changes may have been made due to length.

1.Sangwoo just tried to kill Bum.
2.Bum is afraid of dying.
3.Bum doesn't own him anything, he doesn't have to keep that promise.
4.I doubt that Koogi would have told us the way Bum's gonna die before his actual death, sooo, I don't think he'll die?
