Honestly I dont think she wants to nurture him like a mother, or a mentor, or even any type of special relationship....I think she just wants to have a older friend relationship....people tend to think that the only sensible friendship can be established at the same age...(and they are not totally wrong bc people with the same age have a similar mindset and understanding) but you can also have friends that are really older than you.....
I think they are just really close friends with a age gap.....but they are still trying to establish it.
