I think namu is just acting that way cuz he wants to protect his boy. Could be cuz of the bullying from the last idk
Or he’s saying that’s his reason because he wants to feel justified when we see clearly he is doing it because he’s insecure and in his own words can’t stop worrying about if hoon likes haedam. He’s scared he could “lose” and he’s trying to push the other guy and show his own feelings are sooo superior and more pure so he should be the obvious choice. He’s being insecure, pushy, obsessive, sneaky, and inconsiderate to both his friend and hoon. That said, he’s a dumb kid like everyone else and not irredeemable. Its still mean and more selfish than he’s letting on tho

You can care about your friend and still have more selfish motives than you’re letting on because you want to convince yourself you’re not being rude. He’s acting like he’s being so honest and straightforward when it’s very clear haedam doesn’t know namu likes him in a romantic way and he hasn’t actually gotten that across to him or had a serious talk with him. It’s about reading between the lines and seeing what you see yourself vs what the characters tell you. In stories what characters say is not always true, that’s part of the fun of reading. To measure what they say their motives are against their actions. I’m sure he does care about his friend but to act like he himself is so different from hoon is wild. He doesn’t know anything about hoon and has been picking on him since he met him and being mean to him…then turns around and acts like hoon is going to bully haedam?? Sir, you are bullying hoon! He’s a hypocrite bc he hasn’t even given hoon a chance and picks on him everytime he sees him.
