Yeah, I have been reading yaoi manga in my early teens and i'm later 20's now. I personally think that older yaoi had some charm to them as they were not intentionally meant to have rape for plot sake rather it was more about female fantasies/ kinks and yeah yaoi was originally for females not really meant to realistically depict homosexual relationships. Basically gay porn with plot for females. Nowadays yaoi it's mostly like authors just want to capture that charm but can't because now it's like they want to appeal to a greater audience but still lazy writing cant be ignored if you just want to base the plot off tropes.
