i feel like the authors going through the book of assholery and finding ways on how to make jinhyeong such an unlikeable character every chapter. Some of his action just doesnt make sense with his personality and stuff, doing stuff just so we could hate him lmao
Actually I feel like it kinda does, it’s honestly quiet real, cause like humans aren’t simple but complex beings we act based on our environment. So we never stop changing if we find something we don’t like about ourselves or others don’t like about us we change it but when we reach the age or find the space where others opinions won’t matter to us anymore you’d be surprised about how different a person can be
you're so right i fucking hate when authors try to make characters multifaceted and explore how victims of abuse aren't always perfect. it's so annoying when mentally ill characters ACTUALLY act mentally ill. especially when they're children who are immature and still developing mentally.
like your readers are not smart enough to comprehend the concept of a character acting like a flawed human being. or extend basic empathy.
hey im all for letting characters be vulnerable or flawed or whatnot. Its just that the execution here is not the best and some parts doesnt make sense if you really think about it. Just ended up making jinhyeong a dumbass on how he makes decisions. Also, newsflash being mentally ill doesnt excuse you for being an human bum hole. People with mental illness have the capacity to actually think too yknow, like think about their actions before doing so, weigh their options n shit. These past few chapters, theres no deep thinking involved whenever jinhyeong makes a decision, which just makes me go huh?
Know what, im sick and tired of jinhyeong. Thought he was supposed to be a smart character but hes just some dumbass that keeps coming back to his father after every shit hes been through. He deserve every shit he experienced from this point on.
Jinhyeong was smart, but not emotionally smart there is a difference. Also can you notice how much he was hurt at first? He literally just did the same to songrik. Jinhyeong also was crying in the class alone when he noticed he actually developed social anxiety. And please anyone would seek his father approval; it’s not that he only wants his father to approve his existence; he wants to feel loved. You can’t imagine living without paternal love it hurts too much. Jinhyeong wasn’t a bad kid; songrik wasn’t a bad kid also. They both were hurt teenagers who were seeking love and acceptance. It really does hurt how this story went.
Mind you, he's still a child. They both are, and that "greedy little fantasy" was not just his. It was a shared fantasy that they built together as a means to escape both of their fucked up lives. Not everyone handles pain the same way and because of their shit parents they weren't taught any other way to handle it. It's just fucked up circumstances melting into their daily lives. Also his father raised him to crave his praise and acceptance. It would be extremely surprising if he decided to just ignore those feelings and run away with song rik, it's just not in the character of people who have been psychologically abused. Humans are inherently weak creatures who are usually not gonna choose the best option in a conflict especially not when they are so damaged, and this applies to both of them.
the greedy little fantasy im talking about is the one where hes fantasizing about ditching their original plan and thinking that songrik would be accepted by his father who HE KNOWS is close minded as hell and loathes, and i mean loathes people like songrik. Not an ounce of thinking and common sense happening there mate

im at chapter 72 and im fuming with the way the author killed off the father too soon, feels like the author knows a thousand ways on how to make woo won life suffer cuz its back to back to back every chapter and then give the most bumhole trash of a character peace or let them get away with it just like that without suffering, overall great characters shitty writing
