Basically he's the new ally of empress. Technically a backup on her side to rival Perez, since he's a master swordsman too. The western tourism project of the empress will basically get completed after his help and the empress will be indebted to him Alot and she'll use him to make an assassination attempt on perez and tia. Honestly i can spoil more but i don't want to ruin the experience. You can ask for more I can tell you his ending.

Chanton Shesuo is actually perez's man. He's working as a double spy for perez. Because the empress is in dire needs of supply and funds for the western tourism project she'll start loaning money for him. Bit by bit it would accumulate so much that she would have to put parts of angenas lands as a collateral. This is actually huge for perez because by this he'll completly crush angenas since they won't possess the largest land mass in the west they can no longer be a representative family of the west. The reason why Chanton joined hands with perez is because his father and he, himself was mentored and worked under another representative family of the west before angenas. but due to some deal between angenas and the former emperor they were massacred and almost everyone from that family killed overnight and their lands were taken and given to angenas.That family ANOTHER SPOILER is Ramona's family. They were Master Swordsmen of the empire and basically created the Imperial Swordsmanship but were betrayed and sacrificed. That's the basic summary of it without spoiling the entirety of plot.This was actually a big big reveal and felt satisfying how the empress was so shocked that she could be fooled. That's why I didn't want to spoil it all.
