If they know that he is their gaurdian, only for him be lost because they couldn't trust the family that could just make them have even more mental stuff to deal with, and if he explains that for him to stay alive he needs them to trust in the royal family, they'd might open up out of a sense of duty, and start going through the motions of it, while in their hearts it becomes even harder for them to truly feel it
