Okay since they’re soulmates right, my theory is that all these “unfortunate incidents” are just intended to make sure that Hongkibara & Yeon-ah stay in each others lives. If he’d gone to nationals they probably would’ve never spoken to each other again, but instead because of his injury, they ended up at the same school. It’s little stuff like that that’s been sprinkled in through the story that makes me think the universe is intentionally trying to keep them together.
it was implying that in his past life he tied their red string together in some ritual right? and that made them soulmates when they initially weren’t? so either the universe is creating the misfortune to draw them together and make up for the new fated bond they created (like you said) or it’s simply just a curse for messing with fate. your explanation is definitely more interesting and goes more towards the logical route, which I like way more than just a simple “punishment for changing fate”.
I also agree w u in a way! I feel like yeon and kihoon were at a point where they weren’t going to see each other ever again. Kihoon was denying his feelings and yeon was also suppressing his. I feel like when they actually express love towards each other (aka fulfilling their fate), good things happen. I’m scared bc it said the time is running out to delay the consequences …i hope no one dies or no major accidents ┗( T﹏T )┛
