Ruriiro de Kimi wo Kazatte
Good atmosphere but the relationship is underdeveloped, it would've been better if it was at least 2 volumes. I wish there was more art stuffs and more development of the characters, but as it is right now it all feels pretty surface level. [SPOILER ALERT] I love the name thing, how until the very end, even the readers don't know what ML's real name is. Only the MC does, and that's pretty neat.
Perfect Propose
That confession scene was phenomenal. And man, hirokuni's fear of leaving his toxic workplace because it was his only source of self-assurance is too close to home. Not really a big fan of the dynamic of the couple but oh well, can't have it all.
Saiteina otoko no ude no naka
Not much going on with the plot and characters. They've only been together for such a short period of time (1 month!!) and done little other than sex, so their relationship is kinda hard to buy. Art and vibe are pretty though.
Sex Sales Driver
What's up with the title?? Seriously, it's very misleading and has nothing to do with the plot. I almost dismissed it as one of those unrealistic smut mangas, but I'm glad i gave it a chance because it was far from that. The MC is endearing (and Relatable), the story is wholesome, the relationship is healthy, the characters' dynamic is great, and more importantly: Haze is smoking HOT. Definitely worth a reread.
Amattare wa Inu mo Kuwanai
Awee cute and wholesome all around. Healthy relationship, taking the time to have sex properly and safely, communication, affectionate couple who love to pamper each other, AND supportive friends? What more can you want! Side note: the side story made me uncomfy ngl why did the author made the kids so invested in their fathers' sex life and why the hell did the fathers not be more careful with having sex around their underaged kids jjjj
Perfect Fit
I have mixed feelings about this? But it's mostly positive. Starting with the stuffs i like: - it's unbelievably good to see disability treated as something "normal" in this manga. Not that they dismiss ML's lack of mobility and treat him like an abled bodied person, but nobody ever made a huge fuss over it, it wasn't a focal point in the manga, and it feels great to read a manga where a disabled character is written not because of his disability, but because he is a character whose story is worth telling. - the panels and art are sooo pleasant to look at. This author has this signature of drawing a character inside other character's eyes, and that's so. Aesthetically Pleasing. - the misunderstanding and difference in the MCs personalities is well written. While i was reading, i kept asking myself, was ML really as bad as MC thought he was? Or was I as prejudiced as the MC towards "party" people like ML? And that's pretty neat. And now onto the things i don't like: - the dubcon. Oh my god, the dubcon. The stops and waits and nos that are ignored. I feel like it's written like that to highlight the difference in personalities and the lack of communication between the MCs more, but man, was i uncomfortable reading the sex scenes. My final thought: It's a pretty good manga. I wish i could see the couple be more involved emotionally, but i also get that that wasn't what the author wanted to write.
Kimi ni Koisuru Hazu ga Nai
I read this ages ago and just realized that i never gave it any review. The plot itself is overused but executed well. It's simple, light, and has all the qualities of what makes BL entertaining. Good for a quick reread (if you ignore the dirty talk zjqnjqjwi).
Koi ni wa Mukanai Shokugyou
Not my favorite, but i like how cuddly the MCs are. Side note: i always struggle to read this mangaka's works because the panels are so jam-packed with textures and decorations. For this manga especially, i couldn't concentrate on the story because the art made me dizzy. I ended up skimming most of it, that's probably why i couldn't enjoy the manga to the fullest.
Torokeru Tamago to Bed no Naka de
Gosh i love these two so much. I always prefer stories with established couple because most of the time they focus less on the sexual or fetish-y side of being gay and more on the important aspects of gay relationship. Don't get me wrong, there are still sexy scenes in this manga, but they're there to show how natural their relationship is and how at ease they are with each other. And the rest is about the realistic look on being gay: dealing with homophobia, coming out to the family and the consequences, struggling to be each other's next of kin legally, etc etc. This manga sure does have a fairy tale-ish happy ending, but overall it's a good, comforting read for a closeted gay man like me.
