Iki o Tomete, Ugokanai de
This story broke my heart in so many places, but the live between Souichirou and Kaname was absolutely beautiful. First year student Souichirou has the most scarily serious face and has never really made friends as his intensity plus his face tends to scare others. However he is a wonderful artist and a kind, sweet soul who wants to make friends and make his grandma proud. When he meets the hauntingly beautiful 3rd year student Kaname he is compelled to draw the delicate boy and begs him to be a model. And so, these two spend time together and it doesn’t take long for Souichirou to learn why his senpai has such sad eyes at times. Thankfully, these 2 are so good to and for each other and the story is beautiful.
Shitteru Yo.
Those Hoshizaki brothers are absolutely adorable, especially Yuusei with his serious face that transforms with a smile. I loved both stories. With Sawahata and Yuusei there was Yuusei’s honesty and earnest feelings and Sawahata’s underlying possessiveness and jealousy as the dynamic. It was all the more interesting because it seemed they each had the personality that suited the others appearance. With the spin off we had the oblivious senpai Daichi who was the overly protective older brocon style brother and his kouhai Jun who was obviously interested but happy just to be at his senpai’s side. Jun was a gentle sweetie and all those blushes were super sweet.
Usagi Otoko Tora Otoko
So good! So very, very good! Dr Uzuki stumbles upon wounded Yakuza boss Nonami on his way home from hospital. He helps patch the gunshot wound and leaves the intimidating man, not realising that the next day would have Nonomi entrench himself at his hospital in search of the beautiful ‘woman’ who helped him. So begins the hunt. This beautiful story was full of hints of the mystical, symbolism, humour and the darkness of the crime world. The tiger tattoo on Nonomi’s back seemed to have a predators instinct that guided Nonomi. They saw Doc Uzuki as a timid rabbit to chase and eventually love and protect. Doc was a petite and fragile looking man who took some time to stop being afraid and start being intrigued by “Yakuza-san”. They were in every way opposites and their romance was challenging (even for the author apparently) but it worked and I loved every bit of the story, even the more disturbing parts were authentic for the characters.
Ai ga Kami wo Korosu Toki
The first story with the mafia boss was interesting. The seme was a 35 year old stylish but intimidating man who was high with the Italian mafia in NY. He fell almost immediately for the uke who strongly reminded him of his first love. He was protective of the uke and ready to defy his clan for him. The uke was a young Japanese guy not having much luck with his college entrance exams. He went to NY for a break only to be robbed of his passport and luggage and running from thugs..right into the arms of a mafia boss. The uke was sweet, a little naive and very much in love with this older man who carries (and uses) a gun. A man who lives an ocean away. There was a second story that started promisingly with 2 doctors who had known each other since middle school. The richer boy always bullied the other and it seemed like it may be a bully to lovers romance. But as adults he raped the uke and there was zero consent or even affection felt by the uke. Even when he realised the seme doctor had always had feelings for him, the story just ended. Tbh I am ok with that because I hate rape to love stories. In my mind the uke guy will never go near him or forgive him. Let it end there.horrible story.
Wakarazuya no Renai Houteishiki
This sweet story has one of the most likeable seme’s I have ever read about. Popular Kutou is the kind of good looking, playful yet deep young man who anyone would be interested in. His observant eyes have noticed that the taciturn and quiet Nishihiro is in love with his only friend, Nakano and one day surprises Nishihiro by offering his help. Resistant at first, Nishihiro is drawn closer to Kutou when he realises his feelings for Nakano can go nowhere. Soon these boys spend more time together in the background of their final year at high school. But who does Nishihiro end up being in love with?

This was a surprising gem of a story. Iori is a sweet 18 year old country guy moving to Tokyo to attend college. He finds a room available for free of he cooks and cleans and moves in with company president Roku. Iori has some rapid adjustments to make, but the perpetually cheerful boy is no pushover and soon he and Roku become closer as they understand each other. Their interactions are so sweet. Iori is impossible to resist and his genuine and giving nature brings out the best in his more irascible roommate. This is a definite re read anytime I need an emotional shot of “omg so cute.”
Tonari no Metaller-san
I absolutely adored this story. Soushi-san is a 30 yo metal head who has difficulty speaking. He saved his new neighbour, Kento from freezing to death one night and from that time the two shared meals and formed a solid friendship. But Kento has a secret and hidden feelings for his beautiful neighbour that changes everything. This slowly unfolding story is beautifully drawn and full of “the feels” that make an excellent manga.
Koi ga Ochitara
One of those special manga where the love feels tangible between these 2 very sweet men. I love the age dynamic and the gentle pursuit by Hishimoto-san who was such a caring partner. Highly recommended feel good story.
Koi wa Kamen no Uchigawa ni
A heroic delinquent and a part time actor in a hero costume. These guys were so adorable and wholesome together. I loved that the delinquent was a real sweetie good guy and I loved the hints of possessiveness shown in Ghost. A lovely, fluffy feel good Shounen-Ai (I can’t help but wish it were yaoi, these guys had some chemistry).
